Known as the tech-savvy generation who loves diversity, gratification, and exploration, the millennials are the ones to target when it comes to marketing strategies. 5 Tips for Targeting the Millennial Generation

1. Social media, social media, social media

If you’re targeting millennials, catch them on social media daily; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. Be sure your posts, themes, and content are “post-worthy” and be sure to use updates and app features to get their attention. They are individuals who crave real human connections, so use influencers to your advantage. Influencers who are also millennials can drive sales, traffic, and brand awareness more than you’ll know.

2. Make them feel valued

If there is one thing about millennials, they love feeling connected and appreciated. Also known as “Generation Me,” Millennials were brought up from the idea of individualism. Millennials are very much loyal when it comes to brands they truly believe in, so shower them with promotions, coupons/discounts, and entice them with wonderful customer service that’s personable.

3. Be authentic and relevant

According to studies, 80% of millennials want brands to entertain them. This doesn’t mean literal entertainment, but entertainment in a sense where they can see genuineness and connection to the content or brand. Be a brand that’s engaging, diverse, and always be open to listening and learning what they say.

4. Purpose over product

Millennials are fond of having a purpose for themselves and brands that have purposes as well. Almost 50% of millennials would be more willing to make a purchase from a company if their purchase supports a cause. The millennial generation is vulnerable when it comes to supporting causes and charities. Make your brand worthy by giving back.

5. Reviews are a big deal

70% of millennials feel the responsibility to share feedback with companies after a good or bad experience. Take reviews very seriously when it comes to marketing. Millennials live for reviews and take them to heart. Engage with them and be attentive to what they say and adapt. They are firm believers of word-of-mouth referrals so when a good word gets out, it can go viral.
